As women, we will experience some significant changes in our body throughout different life stages.  These can occur from childbearing, giving birth, repetitive straining from carrying young children, as well as birth trauma.  As a result, altered posture and muscle imbalances will generate a negative impact on our body system where people start to experience joint stiffness, muscle weakness, and pain when performing physical activities.

The clinical evidence suggests that pelvic floor muscle weakness, dysfunction in the thorax and pelvis are associated with symptoms of urinary incontinence and prolapse.

When treating pelvic related conditions, our Physiotherapist uses a musculoskeletal biomechanical assessment model for screening changes particularly in the thorax (mid back and rib cage), pelvis and hips.  Those regions are inter-connected by the neural tissue, strong fascia connective tissue, and different muscle attachment sites.

Any changes in one body part can potentially cause dysfunction and pain in other regions.  Therefore, our treatment approach focuses on restoring whole body posture alignment, improve range of motion, as well as pelvic floor muscle strengthening.

At Spinal Synergy, we assess your pelvic floor muscles strength objectively by using an internal examination manual muscle testing technique, as well as Real time Ultrasound imaging to determine a specific strength-training regime to achieve your goal.  This technology also provides you the visual feedback on whether you are doing the pelvic floor exercise technique correctly and effectively.

We also treat the following conditions with absolute privacy and confidentiality.
